Setting the Stage: The Radical Agenda of the First National Woman’s Rights Convention, Worcester, MA, 1850

  • Museum of Worcester - Fletcher Auditorium 30 Elm Street Worcester, MA, 01609 United States (map)

After an examination of the constraints placed upon ‘women in public’ during this era, the discussion will focus on the convention’s boldness – its diverse speakers, radical themes and extraordinary demands.

This program is FREE and is co-sponsored by Worcester Institute for Senior Education (W.I.S.E.), and Worcester Women’s History Project at Museum of Worcester.

Space is limited. Registration is strongly encouraged.

Photo credit: Dr. Harriott Hunt - a speaker at the conference - urged colleges to admit women to study medicine, and one of the first female practicing physicians.
