Stories They Tell

Stories They Tell

Now on Exhibit

Stories They Tell reveals the public and personal stories behind a selection of artifacts from Worcester Historical Museum’s collection.  The exhibition looks at the development of Worcester from the 16th century to today by examining a wide variety of artifacts that belonged to local residents.

Some of the objects featured in the exhibition include the wedding shoes worn by a woman whose husband was exiled for his British sympathies during the American Revolution, a high-end sideboard made by a local cabinetmaker whose account and day books shed light on his business and trade in post-canal Worcester, a hat brought to America by a Chinese immigrant bride, and much more. Each of these artifacts provide insight about the person or people that owned them and sheds light on local narrative from the earliest days to the present.
