Donate to the Collections
The Worcester Historical Museum accepts additions to its collections and holdings that compliment Worcester history. Our collections document the individuals who have lived and worked in Worcester in addition to the businesses, associations, and movements that have contributed to Worcester’s history from pre-settlement to present day.
The Museum Collection informs our understanding of local history and help scholars and researchers interpret life past and present. Works of art, and other objects (e.g., furniture, ceramics, glass, firearms, musical instruments, tools, textiles, memorabilia, etc.) play a critical role in this effort.
Archival materials are also desired, especially paper memorabilia, photographic images, maps, graphic materials, books, and other historically significant materials such as, unpublished personal papers, organizational records, correspondence, diaries, scrapbooks, and research files. Collections and manuscripts are selected for preservation primarily because of their historical research value documenting the history of Worcester, its community, and activities.
Donations are accepted at the discretion of WHM and must fit within the collection policy. It is not possible to accept everything that is offered. Please do not drop off or send any original materials or objects to the Museum until you have been contacted by the Librarian or Curator. Worcester Historical Museum does not accept donations through the mail or in person unless prior arrangements have been made with the Curator or Librarian.
If you would like to discuss a possible donation of archival or library materials, please contact the Librarian. If you would like to discuss a possible donation of objects or artwork to the Museum Collection, please contact the Curator.
