Fletcher Auditorium, Worcester Historical Museum Free

The Foundation des États-Unis (FEU) is a residence for American students and artists in Paris. It was inaugurated in 1930 thanks to the efforts of Worcester philanthropists Homer and Mabel Gage, née Knowles (of Crompton & Knowles), after several years of a massive fundraising campaign in the U.S.A.

The Gages are known for contributing to many other institutions in France and the US, including in Worcester.

Current directors Sophie Vasset and Anne Crémieux will talk about the Foundation des États-Unis today, and the initial story that motivated the Gages to fund this very special “American Dormitory,” as it used to be called. Peter Hansen, Director of the International and Global Studies at Worcester Polytechnics Institute will respond to their presentation with another look at the Gages legacy in Worcester.
