Today & Tomorrow

Canal marker
The Blackstone Canal is presently covered over and functions as part of the city's sewer system. A series of historic markers at sites along the route of the canal in the city was unveiled on 7 October 2003 to mark the 175th anniversary of the canal. And, there are plans to selectively reopen the once renowned canal, recreating the vitality it brought to Worcester in1828. A boon in the past, the Blackstone Canal may once again charge the city with energy and enterprise.
