Annual Valentine Contest
Each year for the last thirty years, thousands of Worcester schoolchildren in grades 3-6 have submitted their original valentines to the museum’s contest and celebrated Worcester’s role in the History of Valentine-Making. Prizes are awarded to each grade level for historic, contemporary, and verse valentines. There is also a masters’ competition for previous winners. Teacher materials—including program announcements, lesson plans, and valentine histories—are available on our Valentine’s Contest page. For more information, please call 508-753-8278 or e-mail the museum’s Director of Programs.
World Smile Day
Established on the first Friday of October in 1999 by smiley face creator,
Worcester's own Harvey
Ball (1921-2001). In Harvey Ball's words, this is a day to "Do an act
of kindness. Help one person smile." For more information of ways you can
participate in the next World Smile Day, visit http://www.worldsmileday.com.
